Join us on January 20, 2027, for a remote training on Spelling Mastery (SM) Levels C through F. The skills taught in Levels C-F are equivalent to grades 3-6 spelling knowledge goals. Here is a link to the placement test.
Spelling Mastery Levels C through F teach students’ spelling skills through three interwoven strategies: the phonemic strategy, the whole-word approach to teach common words that cannot be taught through the phonemic strategy, and the morphographic approach for advanced spellers.
Students learn the following range of skills in each level:
Level C
- makes the transition from the phonemic approach to the morphographic approach
- teaches a small number of key structural spelling rules
Level D
- expands students’ morphographic strategies by introducing nonword bases
- teaches an additional set of spelling rules that address multisyllabic words
Level E
- emphasizes useful nonword bases
- expands on morphographic principles taught in Levels C and D
Level F
- presents information about international spellings and the history of unusual spellings
- acquaints students with the interrelationships of spelling, vocabulary, etymology, usage, and syntax
In this training, you’ll learn and practice effective delivery techniques, correction procedures, mastery and testing standards, and remediation strategies.

Additional Information
For this training, participants will need to print materials, preferably in color, before the training begins.
Access information for remote trainings will be sent the day before the training. If you do not receive your access information by Noon PST the day before the training, reach out to info@nifdi.org.
Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be issued if our office receives a written request by January 14, 2027, or if NIFDI has to cancel the event. Cancellations after that date will not be refunded; however, we do allow substitutions. A written request must be received in our office before any refunds will be processed.
Payment Policy: Full payment or a purchase order must be received by January 18, 2027, to hold your spot.
