Abstract:
This study examined the effect of the DISTAR program on the academic achievement of elementary students. The DISTAR program was implemented in five elementary schools in Oldham County Kentucky in varying years. The Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills was administered to measure student achievement in math and reading. Results indicated that students in the schools where DI had been implemented the longest demonstrated the lowest percentage of students below the 49th percentile in reading and math.
