Reading scores rise at Alabama elementary school with Reading Mastery Plus

SRA/McGraw-Hill,
Abstract:
This study examined the effect of Reading Mastery Plus (RMP) on the reading achievement of students in grades K-6 in a small Alabama elementary school. RMP was implemented at Elba Elementary in the fall of 2005. Following two years of instruction with RMP, the percentage of third grade students meeting or exceeding state reading standards on the Alabama Reading and Mathematics Test increased from 80 to 88 percent. During this same time frame, the percentage of fifth and sixth grade students meeting or exceeding state reading standards increased from 71 to 83 and 88 to 94 percent, respectively.
