An evaluation of the ESEA Title I and State Urban Programs: Community School District, New York City Board of Education. Final report

This report evaluated 12 Community School District 1 ESEA Title I programs and State Urban Education programs. The comprehensive reading program section compared the effect of two reading programs (DISTAR and the Behavioral Research Laboratories program). The Metropolitan Achievement Test (MAT) was administered for pre- and posttest measures. Results indicated that kindergarten students in the Behavioral Research Laboratories program scored significantly higher than kindergarten students in the DISTAR program. Results for first and second grade students indicated that there were no significant differences between students in the two programs.
